AI capacity in West Texas, on 15 MW that is already energized.

Santa Rita Computing is converting an operating Permian Basin site into an AI data center campus. The interconnection is done, fiber is on site, and another 10 MW is in the queue for a 25 MW campus.

  • In service: 15 MW across eight transformer zones
  • In the interconnection queue: 10 MW, targeted for 2027

Starting from a working site, not a drawing.

New AI capacity usually waits years on a substation. This site is interconnected and running today, so conversion starts by freeing part of the load while the rest keeps operating.

Power in service
15 MW
Planned capacity
25 MW, targeted for 2027
Grid
ERCOT
Medium-voltage feed
13.8 kV, on site
Distribution
8 pad-mounted transformers, separate zones
Network
Fiber on site
Cooling
Air-cooled and liquid-cooled racks
Land
15 acres, room to expand
Region
Permian Basin, West Texas
Power you don't have to wait for
The full 15 MW is interconnected and billed today. There is no greenfield substation to permit or build before the first AI racks go in.
A path to 25 MW
An additional 10 MW is already in the utility's interconnection queue. It will be built to AI specification from the start rather than converted later.
Electrical infrastructure in place
Eight pad-mounted transformers each feed their own zone, with no single overload point. Pads sit next to the load, so feeder runs are short and isolation is fast.
Fiber already on the pad
Fiber is connected today. A second route or satellite backup can be layered onto the existing last mile for production-grade redundancy.
A town, not a remote camp
The site sits at the edge of town with highway access. Crews, parts, lodging and hiring are local, and heavy equipment arrives by truck.
Built for air or liquid cooling
The dry climate suits evaporative and dry coolers, and closed-loop liquid cooling can run on well water with municipal makeup. Offices, workshops, a warehouse and staff housing are already on site.

Converting in phases, without going dark.

Each phase is sized to signed demand. The existing operation keeps running and funding the site while capacity moves over to AI workloads.

  1. Today

    15 MW at full load

Power, network and operations are proven in production. Diligence on power, land and network happens here.

  2. Phase 1

    First 5 MW for AI

Freed for air-cooled or liquid-cooled AI racks, with refreshed power distribution, fiber and monitoring.

  3. Phase 2

    Conversion to demand

Remaining zones convert against signed customer demand, starting with those nearest the transformers and fiber.

  4. Phase 3, 2027

    25 MW campus

The new 10 MW is built to AI specification from day one, joining the converted site as one campus.

A century after Santa Rita No. 1.

In 1923, the Santa Rita No. 1 well struck oil in West Texas and opened the Permian Basin. Its royalties still fund Texas public universities.

A hundred years later, the same region's power, land and people are building a different kind of infrastructure.
